The Smile Project

Posted on Mar 24, 2018

One of our most important tasks is to help provide healthcare for those who are not able to do it themselves.
In Kazakhstan healthcare is in part provided by the government, but patients have to pay to receive quality service, and also to make various analyses and examinations. Unfortunately, not everybody can afford it. Caritas Almaty tries to help those people. Mainly it applies to elderly people, but also to poor families.
With that in mind we have launched the “Smile” project. Thanks to the help of the children’s village “Ark”, that lets us use their dentist’s office; and also thanks to the volunteers-dentists from Italy, who regularly come to Kazakhstan, we help children, adults and elderly people that need the services of a dentist. Some of our patients are treated by a dentist for the first time in their lives.
We would like to once more thank the children’s village “Ark” and Italian professionals for their help.
If you want to know more about the project, please visit the website of children’s village “Ark”: (the website is available in English and Italian).
